With a barbeque going on almost every weekend, this time of year can be one where people pack on the pounds if they are not careful. Dr. Kayode Sotonwa knows that it can be hard to resist the delicious temptations offered at neighborhood parties and family get-togethers’ during this time of year. But in order to avoid feeling sluggish or gaining extra weight during the summer fun season, it’s important to keep a few tips to help stay fit this summer.
- New Methods of Transportation: Dr. Kayode Sotonwa shares those who live close to their job have an advantage, since they can exercise during their commute. Instead of wasting gas and contributing to pollution, consider riding a bike to work or taking a scenic walk on the way home. For other ways to sneak a quick work out in, try taking the stairs instead of the elevator and getting up at least once every hour from your desk. These are all great ways to add exercise to a busy routine in the summer.
- Call a Friend: Those who have someone to work out with often do much better on their fitness regimens. Call a friend up and ask if they would like to try a new fitness class together like hot yoga or spinning. Dr. Kayode Sotonwa shares this is the perfect tip to stay fit and have fun this summer.
- Last but not least: whenever working out this summer, Dr. Kayode Sotonwa advises people to drink plenty of fluids. Getting to the point of dehydration is easy in the heat and will make someone feel very sick. Be sure to drink at least eight 8 oz. glasses of water each day in order to stay hydrated and be able to make it through a tough workout at the gym.
